Phone updates…

Wednesday, August 25th, 2010

I’m massively frustrated that the iPad doesn’t have iOS 4 on it. However, when I read the information below I count myself lucky.

“The news is worse for owners of the Motorola Milestone, the Droids overseas twin. According to Motorolas official upgrade timeline, the Milestone will get Froyo in late Q4, but only for Europe and Korea. The Android 2.2 upgrade for Milestone is “under evaluation” for Canada, Latin America, and Mexico.

As expected, other Motorola phones that launched with pre-2.1 versions of Android wont get Froyo at all, at least for the foreseeable future. Motorolas Cliq, Cliq XT, and Backflip are waiting for Android 2.1, for which the Motorola Devour was deemed unfit.”

iPad Apps #4 – TuneIn Radio

Friday, August 20th, 2010

I love the radio, it’s an integral part of who I am. I listen to hours of radio every day.

Having CD quality radio on my iPhone is fantastic. The best app that I’ve found is TuneIn Radio. The interface is clean, quick and easy to use.

Highly recommended.

iPad v2…

Thursday, August 19th, 2010

“What’s even more exciting is that the first wave of releases on any platform usually turns out to be the least interesting showcase for what the platform can do. I believe that before too long we’ll see iPad apps that strike out into radically new territory, leaving many of the current apps — especially those who simply pull in feeds for reading or emulate print magazines — looking like brochureware sites from the 1990s.”

It’s try that the interesting thing about the iPad is not what it does today but what it’ll look like in a couple of years.

iOS4 is taking too long!

ITV responds…

Friday, August 13th, 2010

British network ITV responds to Apple iTV rumor, says it has ‘vigorously defended’ its IP before — Engadget

So let me get this right.

ITV has a rubbish reputation; even their boss calls them a “fairly dysfunctional organisation” where “a lot that needs fixing”.

So Apple comes along and wants to use a similar name and they are going to defend the name? Are they mad? Shouldn’t they have to pay Apple for the boost to their image?

Lesson 1 – Its about profit not market share…

Wednesday, July 28th, 2010

With 3% market share Apple now makes the majority of profits in the mobile space.

Apple’s ‘Letter From Apple Regarding iPhone 4′

iPad Apps #1 – Reeder

Saturday, July 3rd, 2010

I spend far too much time reading RSS feeds, they’ve completely changed the way that I experience the web. I don’t visit news and magazine sites, they come to me. It’s also completely stopped my consumption of real newspapers.

Reeder is an RSS reader app. A very simple one however;
- it’s beautiful to look at. Someone has spent a lot of time thinking about the icons and the effect is lovely.

- it’s quick. You never wait and the sync with Google is amazingly quick.

- the iPhone app isn’t bad either!

New iPad series…

Saturday, July 3rd, 2010

So three people have asked me what apps I’m using on the IPad. Seems that it’s the dinner table conversation of the mement!

Rather than a email, I’m going to start documenting them here.
